When to Buy Organic vs. Non-Organic

Let’s clear the air here. To make healthy decisions, every produce item you buy does not have to be organic. But, there are some fruits and vegetables that you are highly encouraged to make the jump to organic. So, here is the breakdown so you can be a smart shopper:

The Dirty Dozen:

Here are the latest culprits chock-full of pesticide residue:

strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, grapes, celery, tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, potatoes

Whenever possible, always choose organic for the least pesticide residue.

The Clean Fifteen:

sweet corn, avocados, pineapples, cabbage, onions, sweet peas (frozen), papayas, asparagus, mangos, eggplant, honeydew melon, kiwi, cantaloupe, cauliflower, grapefruit

You don’t have to buy organic since they are typically low in pesticide residue.
