Tummy Time Facts
Tummy Time is an important part of every baby’s development. Experts recommend up to 30 minutes of Tummy Time every day to encourage fine and gross motor skills and help develop strong arm, neck, and shoulder muscles that your child needs to start reaching, sitting up, and crawling.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, babies should always sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). But all that time spent on their back can cause a flat spot on your child’s head, known as Positional Plagiocephaly or flat head syndrome. Giving your child time off of their backs can help retain the integrity of the head shape.
